Eternal Gospel

It Is God's Will That You Should Be Sanctified

This is the beginning of the teachings about Christ: Hearing and believing the gospel that is through Christ Jesus, we are justified freely by God's grace and are set free from the curse of the law. Though blades have grown from seed, the farm work has not yet been finished. Without our fruit to holiness, we cannot enter the holy barn of God.

Therefore, it is written by the apostle of truth, "But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life." (Romans 6:22).

There are many people who have been set free from sin but have not become slaves to God. They have been invited, but they will not be chosen. It is written, "For many are invited, but few are chosen." (Matthew 22:14).

The Bible says, "As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, 'Jesus, Master, have pity on us!' When he saw them, he said, 'Go, show yourselves to the priests.' And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him--and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, 'Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?' Then he said to him, 'Rise and go; your faith has made you well.'" (Luke 17:12-19). "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?" The other nine must have had severer leprosy later. It is because Jesus said to the only one who returned and threw himself at his feet, "your faith has made you well."

Therefore, the goal of faith is not just to be free from sin. If we are set free from sin, become slaves to God, have our fruit to holiness, and accomplish the eternal life, it is the end. The Spirit of Truth lives in those who believe, and the image of the holy Son is surely formed in them.

Therefore, the Bible refers to those in whom the Holy Spirit lives as God's temple. It is written, "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple." (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).

Therefore, these good words were said to the holy people in whom the Father and the Son live, "May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones." (1 Thessalonians 3:13).

Holiness means those who are holy, that is, those who follow the will of the holy God. It is written, "It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit." (1 Thessalonians 4:3-8).

Therefore, the holy apostle also exhorted us by his prayer, "May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

The holy God called us out of sin and death through the blood of Jesus Christ His holy Son so that He may make us holy and He who is holy live forever in us with His Son who became holy.

Therefore, another apostle exhorted us again, "But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy.'" (1 Peter 1:15-16).

"Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord." (Hebrews 12:14). Amen, Thank you, Lord.
