Will Anyone Calling on the Lord's Name Be Saved?
2004-11-22 20:55
It is clearly written in the Bible that "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." God clearly said it to the prophet Joel, and also Peter the disciple of the Lord and Paul the servant of the Lord together testified to it.

However, it is also clearly written that the Lord said, "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 7:21).

Therefore, "Everyone" refers to those who hear God's words preached by those who are sent, and believe in Jesus. They cannot call on the name of the Lord Jesus unless they believe in him.

It is written, "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?" Calling on the name of the Lord--faith leading to salvation--means: If believers receive the Spirit and call on the name of the Lord only by the Spirit, they will be saved.

Therefore, the Bible says, "Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit." (1 Corinthians 12:3).

It is clearly written, "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, 'Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.' For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, 'Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.' How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!' But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, 'Lord, who has believed our message?' Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." (Romans 10:9-17).

God will accept with pleasure the whole burnt offerings offered by those who chew the above passages and have cloven hooves--spirit and flesh--and follow Jesus Christ the Shepherd.

So, the Bible says, "Then He said to them, 'Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old." (Matthew 13:52).

People like the householder who clearly knows things new and old don't walk according to the flesh, but hear the voice of the Lord, who is Spirit, and follow him and enter with him the kingdom prepared by him.

It is written, "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27).

They can discern between their right hand and their left, and are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, and live a new life which pleases the Lord.

It is written, "But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His" (Romans 8:9). And also, "For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." (Romans 8:13-14). Whoever among those who are led by the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ, and call on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Therefore, the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ, and the Spirit whom the believers of the Lord received are one. It is written, "I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:22). And again, "For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink." (1 Corinthians 12:13).

The Bible says, "no one can say, 'Jesus is Lord,' except by the Holy Spirit." and also says, "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved." I thank the Spirit of truth who guide us into this truth of salvation. Thank you, Lord.
